The High Energy Density Physics Group at the University of California San Diego is seeking two experimental postdoctoral fellows to support pulsed power driven Z-pinch and short pulse laser matter interactions programs. The postdoctoral fellows will be responsible for the coordination of Z-pinch or laser plasma experiments on campus and on other collaborative facilities. The work will involve conducting experiments, data analyses and paper writing. The participating fellows will work as member of a team (consisting of UCSD faculty/staff, other postdoctoral fellows, and both undergraduate and graduate students) and will have the opportunity to learn more about other aspects of these projects. A Ph.D. in plasma physics or closely-related field is required as well as hands-on laboratory experience, knowledge of pulsed power technology or short pulse high intensity lasers and relevant diagnostics. The appointment is for one year with potential renewal for another two years. Interested individuals should contact Professor Farhat Beg ( and Dr. Chris McGuffey (
